Take the colour quiz

So you’re a colour connoisseur? Put your swatches where your mouth is and take the colour quiz. We’ve zoomed in nice and tight on a couple of colour favourites to see if you can still correctly identify them when they’re up close and personal.

Digital printers split colour out into four primary colours: cyan, magenta, yellow, black (CMYK). The ink is laid down in tiny dots, too small to be seen by the naked eye. When the colours are laid down, it gives the effect of solid colour. When zoomed in, the partitive nature of the print is revealed, and you can see some fascinating effects.

The amount of each colour applied is measured from 0 to 100. For example, 100% Magenta (printed.com pink) would look like this:

C:0 M:100 Y:0 K:0

We’ve zoomed in to 800X with our microscope and captured some closeup shots of some printed colours. Put your print knowledge to the test and see how many of the colours you can correctly identify by their CMYK values.

When you’re done, tally up your score using the answers at the bottom of the page.
