How wedding stationers can make a difference to charity

We are always proud of our customers, but when we find out one is going a little bit further, giving back to charity and the community, well, we have to champion them. So when we discovered Natalie Mock, of Mock Up Designs no less, was donating her wedding stationery expertise to UK charity Gift of a Wedding, we had to find out more…

Natalie, tell us a little bit about your business please?

“Hi, I’m Natalie owner of Mock Up Designs, a fairly new stationery business based in Cardiff. I create all kinds of paper products ranging from greeting cards to bespoke invitations, which have a bold, contemporary feel but the main element of my business is wedding stationery.”

How did you hear about Gift of a Wedding?

“I first heard of the charity when a close friend of mine, a wedding photographer, shared Gift of a Wedding’s Facebook post urgently requesting a wedding stationer to assist with a wedding they were arranging, for a couple in Manchester.”

What’s the charity about and why did you decide to get involved?

“The charity organise weddings for couples who are facing terminal illnesses and pull together a whole host of wedding suppliers in order to make the couple’s big day happen, with as little stress as possible on the couple. I decided to get involved because I know how grateful I would be if people were willing to help me, if I ever needed it.”

How did you decide to create your designs for the wedding?

“For Leasa and Mandy’s wedding we were working with an extremely short time frame of less than two weeks to get all of the stationery designed, produced and delivered to the couple in Manchester ready for their wedding day, so Leasa and Mandy choose one of my existing house collection designs, Zest. We worked together to change all of the colours to mint, white and pink, so that it complimented the rest of their wedding.

“I was very grateful to printed.com for turning all of the items around so quickly to ensure that they received all of their stationery on time and a special thank you to Danni in your Customer Services team who was ridiculously helpful throughout, particularly when there were some last minute changes to the table plan! (A very common hazard of the job!)”

What was the feeling like knowing you were involved in something so special?

“It was especially nice to hear how happy Leasa was when she received the delivery of all of their stationery and felt really good knowing that I had helped contribute to their wedding, even in such a tiny way.”

What are your thoughts on other businesses in the wedding industry getting involved in causes such as Gift of a Wedding?

“One of the highlights for me on working on this wedding was when we received a thank you message from Gift of a Wedding after the wedding had taken place and seeing the list of just how many wedding suppliers had given their time and expertise to help pull the day together and it made me feel proud to have been part of that group.  I think that it is important to remember that not all wedding suppliers need to be located close to the wedding either – as a stationer it was no problem at all to get the items delivered to them! Going forward I’d love to be able to dedicate the time to helping causes like this on a yearly basis.”
